Q&A

What do you really do at work?
As the IATL’s Director of Meetings, I work with our Academy’s leadership, the host hotel and other destination partners to orchestrate meetings that advance the work of the Academy and provide fascinating and thought-provoking content for our attendees.

Describe your Perfect Day.
A warm sunny day on the lake followed by sushi and a nice glass of wine.

What’s your Superpower?
Thinking fast and keeping cool.

What’s your life motto?
Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose.

What inspires you?
I am inspired by genuine connections with others. I love hearing people’s stories and feel that there is a great deal of value in taking the time to truly listen and learn from others’ experiences, especially when they differ from your own.

Abby’s love for the travel industry began at a young age, back when the show “Great Hotels” on the Travel Channel was her after-school program of choice. From there she set her sights on a career in meeting and event planning and was fortunate enough to have gained experience in meeting hotel sourcing right out of college.

Since then she’s had the opportunity to work in both corporate and association environments doing what she loves – finding the perfect location and hotel, building relationships, learning about new trends in the travel and meetings industries, and managing a million little details that come together to create incredibly special meetings and experiences for the attendees.

Abby is a proud Minnesota native and graduated from the College of St. Benedict with a degree in Communication. She and her husband are also accomplished LEGO builders and slime creators, thanks to their three young children.
