What do you really do at work?
I split my time between two fantastic groups, the Association of Corporate Patent Counsel and the International Academy of Trial Lawyers. Depending on the time of year, I might be preparing for a meeting, compiling a membership directory, or putting the finishing touches on a yearly journal. On a daily basis, I help members log into our websites, make dues and registration payments, and act as the first point of contact for any member concerns.
Describe your Perfect Day.
Waking up late and trying out a new restaurant for brunch. Walking around outside in good weather, or visiting a used bookstore in bad weather. Having friends over to play board games, then staying up late to watch a good movie. Repeat.
What’s your Superpower?
Excel, and always finding the time to help out my coworkers, even at my busiest.
What’s your life motto?
“Be yourself and you will always be in fashion.” – a fortune cookie I got once
What inspires you?
A job well done. I love the feeling I get from holding a finished project in my hand, and knowing that I helped make it happen. I’m also inspired by the opportunities I have at work to learn all kinds of new skills.
Miriam graduated from the University of Minnesota Duluth (go Bulldogs!) with a degree in History and International Relations, and went on to receive her Paralegal Certificate from Hamline University. She has experience providing executive and program support, planning trainings and events, and with various database management programs.
Miriam is trained in mediation and restorative justice practices, and calls on the problem solving skills she learned there just about every day. Miriam’s diligent work ethic, attention to detail, and uncanny ability to make witty comments to caribou baristas are just a few of the reasons she’s such a valued coworker amongst her team at GMP.
